The Trump administration is signaling a willingness to engage in discussions with Anthropic regarding its directive that prohibits foreign access to the company’s advanced AI models, according to information obtained by The Post.
A high-ranking official from the White House, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the internal discussions, indicated that a compromise could potentially be reached through direct negotiations with Anthropic’s CEO, Dario Amodei.
“It’s crucial to prevent cutting-edge models from being misused,” the source familiar with the situation commented. “The focus is on collaborating with Dario to find a solution.”
This statement marks the first hint that the administration might view the recent export-control measure—which required Anthropic to deactivate its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models globally—as an opening for dialogue rather than a definitive ban.
