A BOUGIE NYC restaurant is dishing up ‘upscale McDonald’s nuggets’ for an eye-watering $28 each – and they’ve put a luxury twist on a finger-lickin’ favorite.
Michelin-starred restaurateur Simon Kim is the proud owner of a new upmarket fried chicken spot in Manhattan.
Intrigued revellers turn up in their droves to sample eyebrow-raising elegant twists on fast-food favorites, including a $28 single chicken nugget, The Post reported.
The reason for its seemingly exorbitant price point? It’s loaded with a spoonful of golden daurenki caviar.
“It literally tastes like an upscale McDonald’s nugget – the caviar adds a good salinity without being too salty,” one customer said.
“It’s a good texture, good mouthful – perfect texture.
“I thought it was really gimmicky and that this was their TikTok thing – I was more in it for the Korean-fried chicken.”
Coqodaq also caters to KFC lovers, offering up its own take on a bargain bucket for for $38 a pop – with most diners opting for a glass of Champagne to wash it down with.
The restaurant has some 600 varieties of bubbles to go with the fried chicken – including Jacques Selosse, 1985 KRUG, and a Leclerc Briant Cuvée Abyss aged beneath the Atlantic Ocean.
“It’s a bottle that is aged underneath the Atlantic Ocean imitating the Titanic wines of the past,” sommelier Victoria James revealed.
SCRAMBLED EGG OUTRAGE
Diners were left fuming after discovering a posh London restaurant selling scrambled eggs on toast for £58.
HIDE in Mayfair is a Michelin-star restaurant which has caused a stir recently for its breakfast menu prices.
The customers were appalled to learn that the cost of scrambled eggs on toast might set them back a whopping £58.
The breakfast dish costs £36 a serving but the price rises even further to £58 if adding white truffle.
White truffles are known to be an extravagant food with one of the highest price tags.
The expensive fungi are difficult to grow and take years to cultivate, making them scarce and valuable.
But customers’ opinions are divided on the lavish dish.
One person wrote: “The dishes were basic, lacking a notable wow factor.
“Simply adding truffle to bread doesn’t automatically elevate one to the status of a chef.
“Overall, while we gave it a try, we weren’t entirely convinced by our experience.
“Furthermore, the pricing was exceptionally high without any apparent justification.”
Another reviewer added that the dish was “tasteless” and she “couldn’t even smell [the truffle]”.
But while some guests were baffled by the bill, others have been left impressed and pleased with the breakfast dish.
A different customer disagreed, saying: “It’s worth every bite and they really are not shy with the truffle like other London restaurants.”
Another visitor said that the meal was “a must-try” with someone else adding: “Food on the pricey side, but you pay for the experience.”
The high-end restaurant’s breakfast menu features Beluga caviar starting £190, avocado toasts for £20, and teas for £16.
SALTY CUSTOMERS
A Salt Bae restaurant was also slammed for eye-watering bill including £100 fruit and a £360 steak.
Celebrity chef and restaurateur Salt Bae has been under fire for his unrealistic food prices that cost diners a staggering £85,000 for a single meal.
The internet famous chef has reduced prices at his London restaurant in a massive U-turn after a backlash over its high costs.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi’s new Salt Bae-style establishment has been blasted by diners over its extortionate prices.
Footy supporters have slammed the star for charging £18.30 for a plate of macaroni.
In other news, a horrified Brit couple said they were ripped off at a holiday restaurant after they were slammed with a £116 bill for just five king prawns.
