A 91-year-old pensioner who was murdered during a vicious burglary at his Buckinghamshire home has been pictured for the first time.
John Brackin Senior was critically injured during a beating at his house in High Wycombe on November 19 by an intruder who stole £250 of his savings during the raid.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition following the attack but died as a result of his injuries despite doctors’ best efforts to save his life.
A man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and burglary following the break-in at the home in Cedar Close, High Wycombe, remains in custody and is expected to be questioned later about the murder of Mr Brackin.

On Sunday night his family paid tribute to the murdered pensioner who loved the comfort of his slippers so much that he even attended his wife’s funeral wearing them.
In a statement, the family said: ‘John Brackin Senior was the father of five children – John Junior, Orban, Burton, Julie and Danny, as well as a beloved grandad and great grandad.
‘He loved being around his family – we all meant so much to him. He meant so much to us. He was so cruelly taken from us at 91 years of age.
‘John was born in St Vincent in the Caribbean and moved to the UK in the early 1960s.
‘He had been retired for many years, but in his working days he worked at William Hands Furniture as a stoker and also in maintenance.

‘He was a very proud man and a very neat and orderly one. Everything in his home had a place and he didn’t like anything out of that place!’
They added: ‘In later life, other than spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed watching his favourite programme Desmond’s and loved a brandy.
‘In his latter years, he didn’t go anywhere without his slippers! He even attended the funeral of his beloved Rose in them earlier this year. He liked to be comfortable!
‘He was quite simply a lovely, bubbly gentleman. We will miss him dearly.’
Mr Brackin, 91, died in hospital after being violently beaten in his home in Cedar Close, High Wycombe. In a statement, his family said: ‘He loved being around his family – we all meant so much to him. He meant so much to us’
Andrew Francis, 46, of West Wycombe Road, High Wycombe, has been charged with one count each of burglary dwelling with intent to steal, Section 18 GBH with intent, assault of an emergency worker and causing criminal damage.
He appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court and has been remanded in custody to appear at Aylesbury Crown Court on December 23.
Meanwhile, a 39-year-old man from High Wycombe has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary and remains in police custody at this time.
A 39-year-old woman of no fixed abode, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a burglary, has been released on police bail until February 25.
