Prosecutor and Democrats Go Ballistic After Youngkin Pardons Father of Rape Victim in Loudoun County

As RedState reported, Gov. Glenn Youngkin pardoned Scott Smith, who was arrested for disorderly conduct after challenging a school board for covering up the rape of his daughter.

In one of the biggest stories of 2021 and one that likely helped sweep Republicans into power in Virginia, Smith’s daughter was raped in the girl’s bathroom by a boy wearing a skirt. The Loudoun County school board, which had been pushing a then-new rule allowing “transgender” students to use the bathroom of their choice, sought to cover up the rape at multiple levels.

Those motivations were confirmed by a grand jury report which revealed officials ignored multiple warning signs and didn’t expel the rapist over fears of transphobia.

Despite those extreme circumstances, Smith was still charged by the local prosecutor with disorderly conduct after he was arrested at a 2021 Loudoun County school board meeting. His crime was attempting to speak out in support of his daughter after the school board declared an unlawful assembly.

One would think any normal prosecutor would have never pursued charges when it became clear that Smith was a distraught father who did nothing by trying to verbally defend his daughter. Bita Biberaj isn’t a normal prosecutor, though. The far-left Democrat, who is currently running for re-election in Loudoun County, has carried her thirst for vengeance on her sleeve, and the news of Youngkin issuing a pardon sent her into a fit of rage.

All of that anger over a pardon for a disorderly conduct charge in which the father was completely justified in wanting his voice to be heard. It’s astonishing and disturbing to see Biberaj put out a statement like that. Why not just be silent about the matter? Again, the circumstances of Smith’s arrest, including the fact that Loudoun County officials covered up the rape of his daughter for political reasons, should have dictated a change in approach. Instead, Biberaj has continued to speak of Smith as if he murdered someone.

She wasn’t the only one, either. Other Virginia Democrat officials also ranted and raved following the pardon.

Very little about what either of those two politicians said makes sense. The attack on Youngkin as having “failing presidential aspirations” is especially odd given he isn’t running for president. As to the notion that delivering a pardon is being anti-police, that’s simply false. Opposing the vendettas of vengeful, partisan prosecutors is not being anti-police.

With that said, when the police act badly, as they did in their violent arrest of Smith, “back the blue” rightly goes out the window. Police forces shouldn’t be defunded, but they should be held to basic standards. The idea that Republicans blindly support the police no matter what is false.

It is mind-blowing to see these Democrats essentially defend the rape of a then-14-year-old girl because they see it as a way to attack Youngkin politically. How deranged does one have to be to take that position? We are talking about a party that largely supports “criminal justice reform,” including leniency for all sorts of major crimes, but suddenly, they are deeply aggrieved over a pardon for a disorderly conduct charge. No one should buy their outrage as being authentic.
