Russell Brand’s Controversial Remark to Vanessa Feltz About Her Teenage Daughter Resurfaces

This is the moment Russell Brand asked Vanessa Feltz whether he could have sex with her 15-year-old daughter, an exchange the presenter later described as “scary and intimidating”.

The television presenter appeared on Brand’s MTV chat show, 1 Leicester Square, in 2006.

During the uncomfortable interview, Brand repeatedly asked whether he could “have it off” with Ms Feltz or one of her two daughters.

Although Ms Feltz initially appeared to respond in the spirit of a joke, she became increasingly uneasy as the conversation continued and her replies grew more serious.

Brand then joked about having sex with daughters he might have in the future.

Years later, speaking on This Morning, Ms Feltz said she could not pretend to have found the exchange funny.

She said there was something “extremely chilling” about the disgraced comedian and actor, describing him as “ruthless and a bit scary”.

Ms Feltz appeared on Brand’s programme in 2006, when she said the pair were “good pals”.

Partway through the interview, Brand loudly asked: “Can I have it off with either you or your daughters?”

Ms Feltz grimaced at the host’s brazen vulgarity and replied: “No, you may not.”

She appeared to play along briefly, adding “all three at once, no”, prompting Brand to respond: “Here’s a wacky suggestion.”

Reacting to her answer, he said: “Damn, she’s always one step ahead.”

Brand continued: “Come on, some of them are adults.”

Looking increasingly offended, Ms Feltz adopted a more serious tone and told him: “I’ve got two daughters, the answer is no.”

Brand persisted, asking: “None of them?”

“Neither,” Ms Feltz replied, before adding: “Will you stop it.”

He pressed the point again, saying: “Hold on, you’ve got two whole daughters and I can’t even have one. Selfish.”

Growing more serious, Ms Feltz told him: “When you have your own daughters, you’ll know why I said that.”

Brand then blurted out: “Well I won’t sleep with them.”

Clearly uncomfortable, Ms Feltz replied: “I’m not sure about that,” in a frustrated jab at the presenter.

Brand added: “I’m only mucking about, I’m not actually going to sleep with my own kids. It’s only a joke. It’s only words.”

The clip has since resurfaced online following Brand’s conviction for rape and sexual assault.

Ms Feltz has discussed the footage on several occasions and has continued to express her discomfort with Brand’s conduct.

Speaking to The Guardian in 2024, Ms Feltz said she and Brand had “hit it off immediately”.

Russell Brand has been found guilty of rape and three sexual assaults, while our reporters Caroline Cheetham and Liz Hull were in court every day to follow the case. They spoke with Detective Inspector Laura Nelson, who explained why the women who accused him in the documentary were not involved in his rape trial.

However, she said Brand had a side that made her uncomfortable, describing his comments on MTV as “revolting”.

She later revisited the encounter on Good Morning Britain.

Ms Feltz said: “I was quite friendly with him. I found him vastly entertaining. I was absolutely mesmerised by the stream of words and the charisma. I’d never seen a presenter anything like him.

“He simply announced, in this unbelievably dispassionate way, that he would like to have sex with me and both my daughters. The younger one was 15 at the time.

“I couldn’t pretend I thought that was funny. It didn’t seem to be a joke.

“I realised then that there was something extremely chilling about him. Something very ruthless and a bit scary and intimidating.

“What he really relished was power over women. He wanted to have sex with the ones who didn’t want to have sex with him, rather than the very many who did.”

In another unsettling clip, Brand is seen flashing a card bearing the word “Obey” at Katy Perry on the Oscars red carpet in footage from 2010.

The convicted rapist and his pop-star wife were being interviewed by a GMTV reporter at the event.

As Katy Perry playfully accused her then-husband of not watching the ceremony, Brand disagreed before telling her off for swearing.

He then held up a small card reading “Obey” towards the camera before walking away and leaving the singer to complete the interview alone.

Some social media users interpreted the logo, which belonged to a clothing brand, as Brand attempting to assert control over his then-wife.

Perry appeared shaken by the exchange and was noticeably subdued during the final moments, when she stood alone with the reporter.
