Recently, Indiana Fever’s head coach, Stephanie White, has found herself in hot water, facing criticism for her reactions—or lack thereof—in support of her players.
In a notable incident, White notably chose not to stand behind one of her standout athletes, Sophie Cunningham. Cunningham had faced backlash from progressive groups after expressing her intention to advocate for the protection of female athletes—an issue which has sparked heated debates. The controversy erupted following White’s chance to defend her player when questioned during a post-game press conference about the participation of transgender women in women’s sports.
Contrary to expectations, White remained non-committal.
When asked about her views on the matter, White offered minimal insight.
“I wouldn’t really say that I’m educated enough from a scientific standpoint. I don’t ever believe that exclusion is the answer,” she remarked, leaving many questioning her stance.
