LONDON — In a recent disclosure, Hunter Biden shared the distressing news that his father, former U.S. President Joe Biden, is grappling with prostate cancer that has unfortunately spread to other parts of his body. Despite this challenging condition, Biden continues to engage actively in public discourse, according to his son during a revealing interview.
The emotional conversation with the BBC, aired on Friday evening, saw Hunter Biden opening up about his father’s health battles, painting a heart-wrenching picture of a family’s struggle. He candidly described the situation as profoundly saddening.
“The progression of the cancer is alarming,” he explained, noting that it has now metastasized, affecting his father’s bones and more. “He’s in a lot of pain, and it’s severely debilitating.” This revelation underscores the gravity of Joe Biden’s health issues.
At 83 years old, Joe Biden was the nation’s oldest president, and concerns about his age dogged much of his tenure. The criticisms only intensified with allegations suggesting his administration concealed the severity of his health troubles, especially after his abrupt withdrawal from the re-election race following a challenging debate with Donald Trump, who eventually succeeded him.
Biden’s battle with cancer became public just last year in May, revealing his diagnosis only months after his departure from the Oval Office.
Hunter Biden said the diagnosis had been tough on the family.
“It’s really sad to watch,” Biden said. “The only thing that I’d say about my dad, about his health right now, is I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good.”
But Biden said his father remains “out there,” speaking publicly about the issues that are important to him.
“He’s still doing his thing,” he said. “He so believes in this country.”
The former president will publish a memoir, “Promise Me, America,” after the midterm elections.
