A HOMEOWNER has called out his neighborhood association for fining a woman and making her uproot her garden.

The resident posted a video on TikTok to show her followers why her homeowners association was in the wrong.

In the TikTok video, Theresa Dunstan (@theresadunstan) of Arizona panned the camera to a garden her neighbor had planted.

“This is why I hate HOA,” she began the video.

“The lady that lives in this condo right here, she has planted all these plants and got permission from HOA years ago to do this.”

Dunstan explained that her neighbor maintains the garden herself and uses her own water to care for the plants.

“It looks nice. She’s not bothering anyone,” she said.

And worse, the user feels for her neighbor, as the HOA has taken away one of her hobbies.

“You can see the joy in her face when she waters these plants,” said Dunstan.

Dunstan said the HOA fined her neighbor $200 and told her she had to remove the garden she had planted.

The users in the comments stood in solidarity with the gardener, voicing their disapproval of HOA’s decision.

“I’d get a petition and go to the next meeting to keep it and relieve the fine,” commented a user.

“I don’t understand what issue HOA has with those plants? It makes the home beautiful…why?” argued another.

“I avoided HOA homes before I bought my 1st house for simple reasons like this,” chimed a third.

A user who claimed to be a former HOA board member even disagreed with the association’s decision.

“If she had written permission from a previous BOD, then she may have a cause of action against the current board.”

The U.S. Sun has previously reported on HOAs and why homeowners are unhappy with some of their rules.
