“I ventured out to Walmart today bc I needed some stuff. They are slowly turning me into an Amazon shopper,” a customer explained on X (formerly known as Twitter.)

“So reorganized that you can’t find anything. As well as things being locked up. Toothbrush heads? Nope.”

Another shopper agreed, saying they hadn’t gone to the retailer in years.

“I stay away from my local Walmart. Haven’t been in years. I do visit one in the mountains from time to time and it is neat and clean with lots of really nice gray-haired folks working. My Walgreens is pitiful. Everything locked up”

Walmart shoppers have been opening up about their hatred for the anti-theft policy, and even boycotting the store for other alternatives.

Another user admitted that they turned to Amazon after they realized underwear was also being kept from customers.

“They locked up the underwear and socks at the Walmart I shop at. I will literally not participate in shit like this,” the user said.

“Billion-dollar corporations who can’t stand a few personal items getting stolen so they inconvenience all customers. If it’s locked, I don’t shop.”

“Turns out the socks I buy are less expensive through Amazon anyway, so I’m not bothered waiting for delivery on things.”

Walmart outage sees shoppers walk out of stores as sales and returns brought to temporary halt at thousands of locations

A shopper chimed In and admitted that because couldn’t privately buy health products they had to leave the store.

“The dentist gave me antibiotics, yeast infection currently loading and brewing in my body right now,” she said.

“They had the yeast infection medicine locked up behind a glass, I would rather suffer.

“I will literally drive to another Walmart to see if they have it not behind a glass, it’s already embarrassing.

“My plan was to buy it at self-checkout so no employee has to scan it.

“Having to call an employee to grab it defeats the whole purpose of the privacy of self-checkout.”

Despite customer concerns, Walmart has not announced any plans to stop the anti-theft measure.

Last year, CEO Doug McMillon admitted that shoplifting and shrinkage drastically hurt the retailer’s profits during an August 2023 earnings call.

“We do think that in some jurisdictions here in the U.S., there needs to be action taken to help protect people from crime, including theft,” McMillon said.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Walmart for comment.
