SCORES of US Postal Service customers have complained that they cannot track their parcels using an online tool.
Hundreds of complaints have been submitted in the past 24 hours via Downdetector.
At least 90% of users who have submitted reports on Downdetector have flagged issues with the tracking system.
Just under 10% are having trouble accessing the company’s website.
And, a small minority are having problems logging into their accounts.
Customers are being greeted with the message that the tracking service is “currently unavailable” on its website.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.”
But, news of the outage has left customers worried.
“Why is the tracking down?” one user posted on X.
“You’re frightening me a wee bit.”
Another warned the tracking service needs to stop going down “every two minutes.”
“Why is usps tracking down?!?!!!!!!” a third user blasted.
“I’m tryna stalk my package for the 17,863rd time.”
“Idk what is happening,” a Downdetector user wrote in the comments.
“It’s not working. It says unavailable.”
The outage comes just days after agency bosses rolled out a number of changes.
Chiefs are trying to boost efficiency as well as cut costs.
Bosses say they want to save around $36 million over 10 years.
Officials are changing mail delivery in a bid to improve service standards.
USPS chiefs have warned that some customers may face slower delivery times as a result of the changes.
But, officials have revealed most first-class deliveries will still take between one and five days.
Some customers, however, will receive their letters and packages faster.
The first set of changes came into force on April 1, and the second stage will take place in the summer.
The USPS is still recovering from the sudden resignation of Louis DeJoy, who was Postmaster General, for around five years.
The Wall Street Journal reported that DeJoy resigned before Donald Trump could fire him.
Trump is exploring ways to make the agency more efficient.
The USPS reported losses of $9.5 billion in 2024.
