KATIE Britt made a name for herself as an attorney and businesswoman before running for the Senate.
Now, the first female elected senator from Alabama will deliver the GOP State of the Union response.
Who is Katie Britt?
Born February 2, 1982, Katie Britt is known as an American politician, attorney, and businesswoman.
She is also a member of the Republican Party and beat out Rep. Mo Brooks in June 2022 for a spot on the November ballots.
At the time, she told Fox News that getting the endorsement from Donald Trump would help her chances of winning.
“We were so proud to earn that endorsement and also know that people know – and obviously the president said – that we’re the best to fight for the America First agenda,” she said.
“That’s what I’m hearing all over the state. People miss those policies.”
Katie eventually won a senate seat in 2023 and was the first woman elected to the United States Senate from Alabama.
She is also the youngest Republican woman elected to the Senate.
Before her career, she obtained a degree from the University of Alabama.
In 2024, it was announced that Britt would deliver the GOP response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address on March 7, 2024.
Is Katie Britt married?
Britt is married to former NFL player Wesley Britt.
Wesley first joined the NFL in 2005, after the San Diego Chargers drafted him in the fifth round, and went on to play for the New England Patriots.
Prior to that, he was a first-team All-SEC and third-team AP All-American offensive lineman at the University of Alabama.
Since tying the knot, Katie and Wesley have welcomed two children together, Bennett and Ridgeway.
What is Katie Britt’s slogan?
Since the beginning of Britt’s campaign, she has been fighting for her home state.
Her official campaign slogan is Alabama First.
Throughout her campaign, she promised to advocate for smaller government, modern job growth, and constitutional liberties, according to her campaign website.
She is a strong believer that life begins at conception and that Alabamians have a right to defend themselves with the Second Amendment.
Britt is also a supporter of building a wall at the southern border.
“I am horrified and disgusted by what’s happening right now at our Southern border. A nation without borders is not a nation,” she states on her website.
“…I resolutely believe we must put a stop to this siege and build the wall,” she continues.
When Joe Biden took office in January 2021, he halted the production of Trump’s wall, which ran along the Mexico and United States border.
