The European Parliament has officially condemned Qatar for alleged violations of human rights that are thought to be responsible for the deaths of migrant workers hired to complete World Cup preparations this year.

About Investigation On Qatari Authority

MEPs acknowledged the significant impact migrant labor has had on Qatar’s economy and the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

The resolution has also put pressure on Qatari authorities to carry out in-depth investigations into all instances where migrant workers have reportedly died as a result of their working conditions.

The release also urged the Golf country to compensate the families of those whose deaths were proven to have been brought on by unsafe working conditions.

It comes amid rising allegations that Qatar mistreated migrant workers to construct the stadiums and other structures used for the World Cup.

According to a news release on Thursday, the European Parliament estimates that thousands of migrant workers have died in Qatar due to hazardous working conditions before the World Cup.

Members of the European Parliament called FIFA’s corruption “rampant, systemic, and deep-rooted.”

They also mourn the deaths of thousands of migrant workers, primarily in the construction industry, who helped the country prepare for the tournament, as well as the injuries suffered by all.
