Alex Albon is having a remarkable season with Williams. He is currently in 13th position in the driver standings, six places ahead of his teammate Logan Sargeant who is yet to score his first points of the season. Albon recently addressed rumors of Red Bull seeing him as a potential replacement for Sergio Perez.

The 27-year-old was fired from Red Bull in 2020 following a string of inconsistent performances for the team. As he has started to find his form, Alex Albon has clarified that he aims to go a long way with Williams. Speaking on rumors of a Red Bull return, the Thai driver just finds them amusing, saying that these rumors are nothing but evidence of his progress.

“Yeah. Weird! The only thing that’s nice about rumours is it’s clearly showing things are going well. They’re nice rumours as well. I see some bad ones. It’s always my friends sending me this absolute garbage, like, ‘is this true!?’,” Albon told ESPN.

The Williams duo were asked about their thoughts on the Belgian Grand Prix. After a below-adequate run in Hungary, with Albon finishing P11 and Sargeant retiring in lap 68, the duo is much more optimistic for the next race.

The duo believes the Spa-Francorchamps circuit is much more suited for the Williams car than the Hungaroring. Albon talked about how it was difficult to know their place amidst the upgrades all the teams bring in.

“Coming into Spa, it’s a great circuit and one of my favourites to visit. However with everyone bringing upgrades this weekend, we’re in a period where it’s difficult to know where you stand in terms of pace to our competitors,” said Albon

Sargeant is also optimistic about the race despite his late DNF in Hungary. He mentioned that he was happy with the car’s pace and motivated to go into the Belgian GP.

“The weekend didn’t pan out exactly how we wanted it to, but for the most part I saw a lot of good from the weekend. Heading to Spa, we have a car that should be in a better place at a track that’s better suited for us,” said Sargeant.
