Alonso awaits

What an eventful few days it has been with all the managerial shake-ups!

Just last night, we received the surprising news about Pep Guardiola, which came on the heels of a major announcement from Chelsea.

Following their loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup final, Chelsea’s executives decided it was the perfect opportunity to unveil their new head coach, undoubtedly to boost morale.

And boost morale it did.

Chelsea proudly revealed that they have appointed the legendary Xabi Alonso, known for his time with Liverpool and Real Madrid, as their new manager.

It’s an appointment that has reinvigorated Chelsea’s fanbase while simultaneously plunging Liverpool fans further into a state of sadness. As if they haven’t already gone through enough this season.

For the life of me, I still don’t understand why Alonso thinks it’s a good idea to rebuild his career after Madrid by moving to another club that prolifically gets rid of their managers, but hey-ho.

It certainly is a real coup for Chelsea, and while Alonso won’t be there in the dugout tonight, I’m sure it won’t stop the excitement filling the stands.

There is light at the end of the tunnel for the Blues.
