Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas is tipped to be a cult hero at Albert Park this weekend after going the extra mile when paying tribute to Aussie culture.

Already a fan favourite on local shores due to his crafted moustache and mullet, the 34-year-old – who won the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne back in 2019 – displayed his cheeky side when prompting Uber’s Carshare.

Dressed in a turquoise jumpsuit, Bottas can be seen showing off his ‘second car’ – a Holden ute – which features include storage for thongs, a built in pie-oven next to the driver’s seat and a budgie-smuggler drying system attached to the bull bar.

The clip, only posted on March 20 – is already closing in on five million views.

Bottas’ latest hilarious nod to Australia involves the racing helmet he will wear on Sunday during the Australian Grand Prix.

Taking to Instagram, the Sauber driver declared ‘I’m here for the sausage sizzle’, before outlining his impressive Australian vernacular.

Be it ‘sausages on white bread with onion and tomato sauce’ or Bottas’ love of a ‘sausage sizzle’ and the use of ‘gold coin donations’, the hilarious clip will make the Finnish star popular with countless locals.

Bottas has also been in a relationship with Aussie cyclist Tiffany Cromwell since February of 2020.

He has endured a difficult start to the year, finishing 19th and 17th in the opening two races of the F1 season in Bahrain then Saudi Arabia earlier this month.

He also recently declared eventually he would like to compete in the Bathurst 1000.

‘It looks like a lot of fun,’ Bottas told News Corp.

‘I’ve never been to the track….I’ve only seen some video clips and stuff, but it looks great.

‘I love the lifestyle in Australia….the great weather, good food and [the fact that] people don’t take themselves too seriously.’
