Harry Kane has set a personal deadline of this Sunday for Bayern Munich to agree a deal with Spurs – or he will commit to Tottenham for the year.

That leaves the Bundesliga champions under pressure to try and get the transfer over the line before Tottenham open their Premier League campaign at Brentford.

Tottenham rejected Bayern’s third and ‘final’ bid of £86million, which was submitted on Friday, but it is understood that the Bavarians could make one final approach.

Mail Sport revealed last month that chairman Daniel Levy was seeking around £120m for Kane – despite him only having a year left on his deal – but he could accept a fee close to £100m to avoid losing Kane for free next summer.

Kane has one year left on his deal and no intention of extending his contract this summer, a context which his German suitors have to consider when weighing up what a reasonable price for the 30-year-old is.

If they miss the deadline, the Spurs talisman will commit to the club for the coming year

Mail Sport understands that if Kane were to leave Spurs, he would prefer his boyhood club to get a fee out of it.

Sources have indicated that from Bayern’s last offer, the guaranteed portion, believed to be in the region of £73million, was deemed too short of Kane’s worth.

In response to Bayern’s deadline of Friday night for Spurs to make a decision on their offer, Levy flew to the United States – not exactly the reaction they desired.

It is understandable why he is so keen to keep hold of his talisman, even with just a year left on his contract.

Kane is the all-time record goalscorer for Spurs and England and put four past Shakhtar Donetsk in a 5-1 friendly win on Sunday.

At that game, Spurs fans sang ‘we want you to stay’ in a clear indication of where their loyalties lie amid this ongoing saga.
