2021 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson is one of the most talented drivers in the history of NASCAR. But even before establishing himself in the premier stock car racing championship, he earned legendary status in the dirt racing scene in the USA. Despite his Cup responsibilities, he often competes and organizes sprint car races around America.

Recently he ran in one of the most important sprint car events of 2023, the Million Dollar Race at Eldora Speedway. Three times Cup champion and Stewart Haas Racing co-owner Tony Stewart owns the half-mile dirt track. Larson was among the favorite to win the event but was unlucky as his million-dollar chase ended after his car flipped upside down mid-way to the final race. Logan Schuchart took the prestigious win.

In the recent episode of Flow Racing’s ‘High Limit Room with Kyle Larson and Brad Sweet’ podcast, the Hendrick Motorsports revealed his experience of the Eldora race. While talking about the fans at the race, he admitted that he couldn’t feel the energy that usually there in such events from fans and added that fans were weirdly silent even in the main race.

I don’t know, I was trying to like feel the energy, and I just never really felt much energy through the crowd. Like before the race, you know, I thought at least before the main event you would be rowdy and loud, and you could hear the crowd, but man, it was just like silent. So it was just weird,” Kyle Larson said.

The NASCAR driver, though a little bit confused about the reception, pointed out that the fans might have been a bit confused about how to react during the mid-week event. He said that event was also a bit confusing, but said he is confident the energy will increase from next year.

I think at that event was to continue, you know, down the road. It would get bigger. I think the energy would get bigger, I think the first event it was just a little confusing. I think fans were just confused about how to act on Thursday night rather than a weekend… It was still great,” Larson added.

The event was a success for Stewart and his crew as they attracted a good group of fans at the track and good viewership numbers on Flo Racing platforms. It has gained more interest in the sprint racing division, which Larson has made a significant investment in as well with his racing series.
