A high school basketball game in North Dakota went into overtime in the craziest of ways after a full-court prayer turned into a buzzer beater that rolled in on one of the luckiest bounces you will ever see.

Losing 56-53 with only 2.3 seconds left in the fourth quarter against Edgeley/Kulm-Montpelier last Friday, Gus Engelhardt hit the aforementioned shot from his own half to tie the game for the Our Redeemer’s Christian School Knights after intercepting an in-bounce pass.

Subs cleared the bench to celebrate the wild, three-point attempt with the player afterward, as the EKM Rebels were in full disbelief by what they had just witnessed.

Rebels head coach Kevin Strobel was lost for words in his post-game interview.

He attempted a one-handed shot from his own half!

‘That was crazy,’ he told The Jamestown Sun at first. ‘In my life I’ve never seen anything like that and we just happen to be a part of it and then you gotta regroup the players because it was still tied and we still had a chance in overtime.

‘I think everyone was just kind of shell shocked in regards to what happened.

‘It was kind of tough, I’ll be honest with you and then it was just to get the guys ready to play another four minutes was really my focus there before I sent them out for the overtime period.’

A user on Reddit pointed out that the Rebels could have won the game in regulation by just fouling on the last possession.

‘If your EKM why the hell do you do that?’ he wrote, referring to the Rebels’ allowing Engelhardt to shoot.

‘Just in bound the ball, (sic) draw a foul, and win the game?’
