Greek tennis ace Stefanos Tsitsipas made a huge promise as he gears up to compete at the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco. Tsitsipas has promised that he will be donating $1,000 for every ace he hits at the ATP 500 tournament. The money accumulated will then be transferred to the fund set up for the relief program for Acapulco.

Notably, as Acapulco was hit by hurricane Otis in October last year, the city lost lives as well as properties. As many as 250,000 families, 80% of the city’s hotels, and 95% of its businesses were impacted by this hurricane. The government then announced a $3.4 billion recovery plan for the battered coastal resort of Acapulco.

A relief fund was also set up to help the city move out of the crisis. As the recovery plan is still underway, Tistsipas has pledged to donate and help the people of Acapulco. The Greek ace made the announcement in a video shared by ATP Tour on their Instagram handle.

I will be donating $1,000 for every ace I hit this week in Acapulco and it's going to be transferred to all the relief program for Acapulco in 2024.

Stefanos Tsitsipas said.

More aces will help Stefanos Tsitsipas as well as Acapulco’s citizens

As Stefanos Tsitsipas has made this generous announcement, the citizens of Acapulco would be rooting for the Greek player to hit more aces. It will not only help the Acapulco citizens but will also benefit Tsitsipas considering how the last few tournaments have panned out for him.

Tsitsipas has seen a dip in his level since the second half of the 2023 season. While injuries have pegged Tsitsipas back, his concentration has also taken a hit. The Greek star has not won a title since 2023 Los Cabos. In the 2024 season so far, Stefanos Tsitsipas has managed only one semifinal qualification and that too came at Los Cabos.

Now, as the Greek ace gears up to take part in the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco, he would be hoping to hit more aces and win more matches. Tsitsipas would want to win the title in Mexico before he heads to the USA for the Sunshine Double.
