Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham burst into laughter after Jamie Carragher didn’t include him in his EA FC 24 Team of the Year. Bellingham was part of the CBS Sports panel, overseeing Carragher and Micah Richards‘ Champions League Team selections from the previous year.

The 20-year-old English midfielder made a high-profile move from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid for €103 million in 2023. Since then, Bellingham has been in impressive form, featuring in 22 games for Real Madrid this season, scoring 17 goals and assisting five times. In the Champions League, he played seven matches in 2023, contributing four goals and three assists across his time at Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. Additionally, he played a significant role in England’s 2022 World Cup journey.

Despite Bellingham being a strong contender for the EA FC 24 UCL Team of the Year, Jamie Carragher, the former Liverpool legend, didn’t select him. Instead, Carragher chose Declan Rice, the talented Arsenal player, highlighting Rice’s outstanding performance in the previous year.

During the discussion, Bellingham joined in via video conferencing and laughed along with the others, jokingly expressing a preference for Micah Richards’ team after Carragher didn’t include him. Richards, alongside former Arsenal star Alex Scott, then picked Bellingham as their primary midfield choice.

For me, this is the easiest choice I’ve had to make. I am going to pick a young superstar from England who has lit the Champions League alight this season. For me, it has to be only one man. I’m going to choose - Declan Rice.

This choice left everyone creasing, even Jude Bellingham, who was on the video conference. The Madrid ‘star boy’ humorously replied,

I’m liking the look of Micah’s team more and more.

The young 20-year-old midfielder is on track to become a significant figure in Real Madrid’s history and is anticipated to be a formidable candidate for the Ballon d’Or in the upcoming season. Jude Bellingham stands out as one of the most highly valued midfielders globally.

Bellingham criticizes Jamie Carragher’s team selection, questions the energy levels of Mbappé & Messi

During a CBS Sports discussion, Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool defender, drafted his UCL Team of the Year. Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham questioned Carragher’s choice of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, citing a lack of forward pace and energy.

Bellingham questioned Carragher’s UCL Team of the Year for lacking energy, suggesting the players might not contribute much physically. Richards humorously echoed, mentioning the team’s lack of “legs.”

Don’t know if there’s enough energy in there. A lot of walking.

Carragher seemed surprised by the reactions.

Despite the critics, Carragher’s lineup featured talented stars with Mike Maignan in goal, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kim Min-Jae, John Stones, and Theo Hernandez in defense. The midfield comprised Declan Rice, Kevin De Bruyne, and Jamal Musiala, with Lionel Messi, Harry Kane, and Kylian Mbappe up front.
