U.S. airlines started canceling hundreds of flights on Thursday following a directive from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to limit traffic at the nation’s busiest airports, a move prompted by the ongoing government shutdown.
According to FlightAware, a website that monitors flight disruptions, over 790 flights planned for Friday were removed from airline schedules, a figure quadrupling the usual daily cancellations reported on Thursday. This number is expected to rise further.
