Authorities charged Fort Stewart logistics sergeant Quornelius Radford with multiple offenses in the shooting Tuesday, including domestic violence.

FORT STEWART, Ga. — One of the victims in the mass shooting at the Fort Stewart army base in Georgia last week was the accused gunman’s romantic partner, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Army officials confirmed Quornelius Radford, 28, was the suspect in the mass shooting last week. He was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, aggravated assault and domestic violence.

He is a logistics sergeant who has not seen combat, according to Brig. Gen. John Lubas, the commander of Fort Stewart.

Lubus said Radford had received a DUI locally in May. A citation for DUI and failure to obey traffic-control devices from the Georgia Department of Public Safety shows that his address at the time was on Village Pond Circle in Jacksonville.

Radford is accused of bringing his own weapon on base to carry out the shooting. Lubus said the Army is investigating how this was possible. He is currently in Army Investigations Division custody and being interviewed.

The five soldiers who were shot are now stable and expected to be OK, with three requiring surgery after the shooting, according to Lubus.
