Chaos erupted in Manhattan early Sunday morning when a man hijacked a yellow taxi, leading police on a high-speed pursuit along the West Side, according to authorities.
Joseph Ryce, 28, allegedly armed, entered the backseat of a stationary yellow cab outside the upscale Five Manhattan West in Midtown just after midnight. He ordered the cab driver to leave the vehicle, police reported.

Ryce then sped off down 10th Avenue, ignoring police attempts to stop him, officials added.
The pursuit came to a halt when the reckless driver collided with an unmarked police vehicle. Officers quickly surrounded the taxi and apprehended Ryce, law enforcement stated.

Ryce was arrested without any complications, and authorities confirmed that no injuries occurred during the chase.
He is now facing charges including grand larceny and robbery.
