Authorities have confirmed that an individual is currently in custody, though they have not disclosed the charges or reasons for the arrest.
WASHINGTON — On Monday, local media outlets reported a police presence at the Cincinnati residence of Vice President JD Vance as investigations unfolded.
WCPO, a TV station based in Cincinnati, noted that both city police and the U.S. Secret Service were on the scene in the early morning hours.
A Cincinnati police sergeant informed WCPO that a suspect had been detained, yet refrained from elaborating on the arrest details or revealing the person’s identity.
Subsequently, Fox News revealed that the individual in question was suspected of property damage, including shattering the home’s exterior windows, as per the Secret Service.
Vance didn’t appear to be home at the time of the incident, but WLWT, another Cincinnati TV station, reported that he was at the house last week for the holidays. The Vice President reportedly left for Washington Sunday afternoon, hours before the police presence arrived.
While Vance was at his Cincinnati home, the streets around the building were blocked off as a security measure by Secret Service agents. Those barricades had been removed by Monday morning, WCPO reported.
This is a breaking story and more information will be added as it becomes available.
