A shooting incident at Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose, California, has resulted in three individuals suffering gunshot wounds, who have since been taken to a nearby hospital. The incident coincided with the bustling Black Friday shopping crowds.
“Officers are diligently working to clear the mall,” stated the San Jose Police Department on the social media platform X. “A total of three victims have been transported to local hospitals, and their injuries are considered non-life-threatening. We urge everyone to continue avoiding the area.”
Authorities emphasized that the incident appears to be isolated and does not involve an active shooter situation.
Officials further stated that officers are currently evacuating and securing the premises to ensure public safety. “Please continue to avoid the area,” reiterated the San Jose Police.

San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan posted on X that “there is no ongoing threat to the community.”
“This is not the news I wanted to share with you this holiday weekend,” he wrote. “My prayers are with these victims and I know our officers are doing everything they can to find the person responsible and hold them accountable.”
Shoppers have shared photos and video across social media of themselves barricading in department stores and sharing real-time updates.
