Mexican authorities have uncovered a decomposing body showing “signs of violence” near Tijuana’s Caliente Stadium, where the Iranian national soccer team is currently training for the World Cup, as reported by the New York Post.
The discovery came after authorities responded to complaints about a foul odor emanating from a gray Toyota SUV with California license plates, which was parked in a supermarket parking lot close to the stadium, according to the Post.
“Upon inspecting the vehicle, they found a person wrapped in a black bag in the trunk, showing signs of violence,” a spokesperson from the Tijuana prosecutor’s office confirmed to the Post.
The report further detailed that the vehicle had a damaged rear end and was fitted with a license plate holder from a local Tijuana car dealership.
