Brandon Miller made a bold promise to win the NBA Championship to Charlotte Hornets fans after some booed him when the franchise selected him at the Draft Thursday night.

Miller, the controversial Alabama forward, was taken with the No. 2 pick by the Charlotte Hornets and fans did not seem that happy with it.

The general Draft consensus was that the Hornets, who picked second, would choose either Scoot Henderson or Miller, but they landed on the latter Thursday night after holding a series of meetings earlier in the day.

However, their fans didn’t appear to happy with the decision as videos on social media showed them booing the screen when the pick was announced.

But Miller appeared unfazed by the lack of support from his new fans as he vowed to deliver the Larry O’Brien trophy to prove those who booed wrong.

‘To the ones who are booing, I’ll just let you know we’re gonna get a lot of wins this year, definitely,’ Miller told Charlotte Sports Live.

‘We’re gonna try to hold up that big trophy at the end. I’m just gonna have a lot of winners around me.’

Miller had made a similar promise is another interview, vowing to Hornets supporters that they would witness their team clinching the championship title at the end.

‘I see the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA Finals next year. Hopefully, we’ll get that big trophy at the end,’ Miller said to WCNC’s Ashley Stroehlein.

‘My message to Charlotte Hornets fans would be that y’all will see us at the end of the year holding that big trophy up,’ Miller later said.

Multiple videos showed fans of the Hornets vocally booing the selection of Miller – who’s freshman season was at times overshadowed over his alleged role in a murder in Tuscaloosa.

Tuscaloosa police testified that Miller delivered a handgun to teammate Darius Miles, which was ultimately used by another man, Michael Lynn Davis, to kill the woman.

While Miles and Davis remain in jail awaiting trail on capital murder charges, Miller has not been arrested in the case. His attorney says he never handled the firearm and did not have any idea that the shooting would take place. Miller’s coach, Nate Oats, said it was a case of ‘wrong spot, wrong time.’

WFNZ’s Kyle Bailey reported that Miller was booed not once, but twice by the ‘overwhelming majority’ of Charlotte Supporters when the ESPN broadcast panned onto him.

WCCB-TV’s Kelli Bartik shared a clip of Hornet fans’ immediate reaction to the announcement of the Miller pick in the Spectrum Center with boos heard as well as some fans standing up and giving a thumb down.

Speaking on the eve of the Draft, Miller said he does not expect any further police action to occur, after first saying the incident is ‘the one thing I can’t talk about’.

One fan spoke to WBTV reporter Cam Gaskins, showing visibly that he’s been tired by the team’s decisions in recent drafts.

‘Michael Jordan. You’ve owned the Hornets – the Bobcats – since I’ve been a fan, man,’ the angry fan began. ‘And every time I think you’re about to do something, like bad, you do something worse.

‘Hornets fans have been through it all since day one. We have drafted more busts than any franchise. We’ve had to put up with so much stuff.

‘It has affected my mental to be a fan of this team. And the moment I think, “okay, this is it, this is our breakthrough” we draft Brandon Miller.

‘So I’m rooting for the guy, I guess. It was the wrong pick, but I’m rooting for the guy.’
