JSO: Man dies after being found shot on Brentwood Avenue

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has assured the public that a recent incident poses no ongoing threat to community safety.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Authorities from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported the discovery of a man who was fatally shot outside a business in the city’s Southside area.

On the evening of December 24, at approximately 9:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of St. Augustine Road following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located a man near a local business, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Responders from Jacksonville Fire and Rescue declared the man dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations and witness accounts suggest a verbal altercation between the suspect and the victim escalated, resulting in gunfire. The relationship between the two individuals remains unclear, according to JSO.

JSO believes this to be an isolated incident, “no danger to the public.”
