The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced on Thursday that it had not received any communication from Mexican officials, despite reports suggesting an anonymous tip had sparked a search for Nancy Guthrie across the border.
Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, who leads Buscando Corazones Nogales in Sonora, Mexico, acknowledged that the organization had been alerted about a potential grave site that could belong to the 84-year-old Guthrie.
According to 12 News, the informant indicated that search teams might discover a body matching Guthrie’s description in the Mariposa region near Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. The group Buscando Corazones Nogales is dedicated to finding missing individuals in Mexico.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared on social media that the department was informed about the reports concerning the anonymous tips.
“At this time, we have not been contacted by Mexican authorities,” he said. “This investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on any credible information.”

Guthrie vanished from her Tucson, Arizona, home in February. Authorities have said they believe she was abducted, but there is no evidence that she was taken across the southern border.

Her back door was also propped open by the time police arrived hours later, prompting questions about whether more than one person was involved. Supposed ransom notes were sent to TMZ and local media, but no one has been arrested in connection with the case.
