A serious incident unfolded at a northern suburban school in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, when a vehicle struck a pole, which subsequently injured a school staff member. The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by local police.
Officers from the Buffalo Grove Police Department were dispatched to the scene at Buffalo Grove High School around 3:20 p.m. following the collision.

According to authorities, the driver was attempting to leave the school’s parking lot onto Dundee Road when the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a pole. The impact caused the pole to strike a staff member, resulting in severe injuries.
The injured staff member was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently in critical condition.
As a result of the incident, Dundee Road was closed for more than three hours while police conducted their investigation. The driver involved in the accident is cooperating with law enforcement officials as the investigation continues.
The Buffalo Grove Police Department Traffic Unit and the Major Crash Assistance Team are investigating.
In a letter to parents, Buffalo Grove Principal Jeff Wardle said in part, “Several staff and students witnessed this serious accident. Traumatic events like this can be upsetting to hear about, and support is available at school for any students who may need to speak with a member of Student Services or trusted staff member, both tomorrow and in the days ahead.
“Please keep those involved in your thoughts and prayers.”
