Caitlin Clark and Brazil national team coach Leo Figueiro shared a fun moment during the second quarter of the preseason game between the Fever and Brazil when the women’s hoops star went over for a quick hello during a pause in the action.

Clark was mic’d up as part of the ESPN broadcast of the exhibition contest from Iowa’s Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday.

ESPN provided the audio of the moment where Figueiro praised the Iowa alum for what she’s done for the sport.

“You’re an amazing player, congratulations,” Figueiro said to Clark after she came over and asked how he was. “You’ve changed the history in basketball.”

The ever-polite Clark responded by telling Figueiro, “I appreciate it. Thanks for coming here and playing us.”

“Most people you’ve played in front of?” she then asked, to which the Brazil coach replied, “Yes.”

Sunday’s game between the Fever and Brazil national team was being played at the University of Iowa, Clark’s alma mater where she first caught basketball fans’ eyes.

Clark and the Fever easily demolished Brazil in what ended as a 108-44 win in front of an ecstatic crowd.

The WNBA superstar had said that she hoped to give the fans a show during the exhibition match and she did so, finishing the afternoon with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting.

“I certainly give the fans something to cheer about. That’s my goal. Get them involved. Get them loud,” Clark said, according to HawkCentral. “Because, I told my teammates, it’s going to be the loudest arena you’ve ever played in. So, I’ve got to make a few shots and be able to get them on their feet.”

Clark had opened and closed the first quarter with pull-up 3s, which was a crowd pleaser and reminiscent of the type of shots that she became known for first while playing for Iowa — which she took to consecutive national championship games.
