Identified by the Laguna Beach Police Department, Angela Caprioli, 61, was discovered dead in a residence on Monday. Details emerging from the New York Post have confirmed that Caprioli and the accused, Safford Wolfson, share a mother-son relationship.
Further investigation led to the arrest of 36-year-old Wolfson on Thursday, who had already been a person of interest in the case. He now faces serious allegations after being apprehended on suspicion of murder.

Police said officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of Dunning Drive shortly after 11 a.m. for a death investigation and found Caprioli deceased.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.
Neighbor Dustin Pettit said he witnessed Wolfson and Caprioli engaged in what appeared to be a heated argument at the home days before the alleged killing.

“I saw her outside talking with him and it seemed like a pretty hostile conversation,” Pettit told The California Post.
“She turned around and went inside and slammed the door, like she was fed up with whatever was going on.”
Pettit also told CBS Los Angeles that Wolfson had moved into the home about six months earlier.
“He was pretty mysterious. He wasn’t talking to us, you know, he would come outside, smoke a cigarette and play some guitar,” he said. “That’s kinda the extent of the relationship we’ve had with him over the last six months or so.”

According to the New York Post, social media accounts associated with Wolfson identify the account holder as transgender.
The outlet also reported that Wolfson wrote on Facebook in 2024: “Not even my mom wants to hang out with me man… talk about lame-o!”
