In a chilling turn of events, a California woman has been apprehended after allegedly beheading her boyfriend and escaping across the border to Mexico.
Alyssa Marie Lira, a resident of Anaheim, faces grave charges including murder for the death of her boyfriend, Enrique Gonzalez-Carbajal from Santa Ana. The pair had been romantically involved for approximately two months, as disclosed by the Anaheim Police Department.
The charges against Lira are compounded by a sentencing enhancement for the alleged personal use of a deadly weapon during the crime.
The grim discovery of Gonzalez-Carbajal’s decapitated body occurred on August 25, during a routine welfare check executed by Anaheim officers, according to a report by FOX 11 Los Angeles. This prompted a swift investigation leading to Lira’s arrest.

The case, illustrated by the stark and disturbing details, has drawn significant attention, underscoring the severity of the accusations levied against Lira by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
After his death, Lira allegedly immediately fled to Mexico, officials said.
After months of searching, she was arrested Thursday and transported to Orange County.

“Nothing — not time, not distance, nor foreign borders — will thwart our pursuit of justice, and Orange County law enforcement will continue to go to the very ends of the earth to carry out our mission and hold criminals accountable for the heinous acts they commit,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer wrote in a statement to FOX 11.
He called Lira a “cold-blooded killer” who will face “the full weight of the law.”
