In Jacksonville, Florida, a tragic hit-and-run incident has led authorities on a search for justice. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is diligently pursuing leads to identify the driver of a Dodge sedan suspected of fatally striking a 72-year-old man on Vernon Road on January 10.

Recently released surveillance footage, made public on Saturday, captures what appears to be a dark-colored sedan in the vicinity of the Magnolia Gardens area, around the time of the incident. This vehicle, described as a Dodge, is believed to be connected to the unfortunate event.

On the evening of January 10, just before 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to Vernon Road following reports of a collision. Upon arrival, they discovered the elderly victim lying in the roadway, having been struck by an unidentified vehicle. Disturbingly, the driver had fled the scene without offering assistance, seeking help, or informing law enforcement.

The injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is appealing to the public for any information that might aid in apprehending the driver responsible for this heartbreaking incident.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where officials said he later died.

Authorities are asking anyone with more information on the crash, the Dodge or the driver to contact JSO at 630-0500 or email JSOCrimeTIps@jaxsheriff.org. Anonymous tips can be made by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-8477.
