NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is currently enduring a whirlwind of criticism on social media after a notably respectful meeting with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.

Irate European observers quickly turned to X to express their disapproval, labeling Rutte’s actions as ‘sycophantic’ and ‘excessively ingratiating.’
One infuriated commentator expressed disdain, stating that Rutte would never erase ‘the stain of his submission to Trump,’ and another bluntly concluded that ‘Rutte must resign… he panders to Trump incessantly.’
