Country music sensation Orville Peck has shared a poignant revelation about the events leading to the abrupt cancellation of his 2023 Bronco Tour.
The 38-year-old artist disclosed a deeply personal struggle, sharing that he survived a suicide attempt, which prompted his decision to pause the tour due to pressing mental health concerns.
In an emotional conversation with Rolling Stone, Peck confessed, ‘I was battling severe addiction, drinking as a means to cope,’ adding, ‘I hit a point of desperation, alone in my hotel, where I attempted to end it all.’
Reflecting on that critical moment, he described it as ‘a profound turning point,’ a catalyst for self-awareness and change, noting, ‘It was a necessary event in my journey.’
The period was marked by personal turmoil, including a breakup and time in rehab, with the South African-born artist describing it as ‘one of the darkest periods’ he has ever faced.
It led to the creation of his upcoming album Mule, which is slated for release on September 18.
The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Peck for comment but has yet to hear back.

This week he announced the new music in an Instagram post, writing, ‘Mule – my fourth studio album arrives 9/18/2026.
‘This record is a chronological account of the year I lost my way. You can pre-save it tonight at midnight EST, and listen to the first single, “Too Little, Too Late” on all platforms.’
Peck – born Daniel Pitout – told Rolling Stone about his time in rehab, ‘I didn’t want to be there. I thought it was a waste of time, that I’m unique and didn’t have a problem.
‘So I was like, I’m going to write the funniest song about this experience, because at the time I was just like, “F*** this. I want to leave.”‘
The end result was a track called Rehab Blues.
Elsewhere in his conversation with the outlet, the queer singer said he’s learned to stay honest in his storytelling, and lean into vulnerability.
‘What I was really trying to capture in terms of the concept, there was no way to gloss over or sugarcoat it,’ he said about the content of his imminent album.
Mule follows the music artist’s third album Stampede, released in August 2024.
