UNION COUNTY, Fla. — A Lake Butler man and Lawtey woman are in custody after a two-day manhunt in Union County.
On Tuesday, a victim reported a burglary and theft on his County Road 240 property and confronted two suspects stealing from him, fleeing in a car and attempted to run over him. The suspects fled and hid the property in a wooded area, the sheriff’s office said, while the property was recovered and returned to the owner.
“Worthington Springs and Raiford, Florida might have noticed numerous extra patrol units over the last two nights,” a post from the sheriff’s office said.
Cody Dover, 32, is charged with aggravated assault with a vehicle and grand theft, and resting arrest. Rachael Rosier, 28, is charged with aggravated assault with a vehicle and grand theft and was considered an “accomplice.”
Deputies approached suspect Dover and said he fled on foot causing a chase for hours throughout the wooded area of Worthington Springs. Department of Corrections RMC, UCI and Baker C.I. K-9 units responded to assist in the manhunt. The manhunt was suspended after several hours of searching.
On Wednesday, authorities received information that Dover was in the Raiford. He fled on foot again causing a foot chase through thick wooded area between County Road 793S, County Road 237 and State Road 100. They later determined the suspect caught a ride to State Road 100 and State Road 121 area and ran off again toward a wooded area, where he was then “quickly apprehended” by law enforcement on foot, according to the sheriff’s office.
There were no weapons involved in the crimes or located on the suspects, police said.
Both Dover and Rosier are waiting for their first appearance when bond will be set.
