Democrats Turn Choosin’ Texas Into a ‘Liberal Anthem’

Liberals and Democrats are embracing the country smash Choosin’ Texas after the results of the US midterm elections.

The track by Alabama-born singer Ella Langley had become closely associated with Trump-era America after making Billboard history this year, a development that frustrated some progressive music fans.

That perception shifted almost instantly after Republicans suffered heavy losses in Tuesday’s midterms, surrendering control of both the House and Senate while Texas turned blue for the first time in more than 30 years.

“Officially the most liberal song ever made!” influencer Horace Gold declared while lip-syncing to the country hit in an Instagram reel that quickly went viral.

“MAGA got YMCA, woke got Choosin’ Texas,” one user wrote on X.

“The way Choosin’ Texas is about to get another 26-week run on the Billboard chart because the other side of the country is taking it over…” another posted.

“Can’t stop listening to Choosin’ Texas this morning… who knew a blue wave could bring out a little yeehaw in me?” another listener added.

James Talerico, who defeated scandal-hit Republican Ken Paxton and became the first Democrat elected to the state’s Senate delegation in 38 years, also featured the song in a post celebrating his victory.

The post was shared in collaboration with Gina Hinojosa, who defeated Texas Governor Greg Abbott. The pair marked their wins with sodas at a local Whataburger as Choosin’ Texas played in the background.

The stunning result ended a Republican grip on the Lone Star State, which had not elected a Democrat to statewide office since 1994. It also delivered a major setback to President Donald Trump and helped Democrats secure a Senate majority.

Since Tuesday’s midterm elections, Choosin’ Texas has returned to No. 1 on Apple Music and climbed to No. 3 on Spotify’s US Top Songs chart.

The song has also secured its record-extending 26th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It has surpassed Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You, Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy) and Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road for the longest run at No. 1 in Hot 100 history.

Although Langley has been viewed by many as a prominent figure in MAGA culture since her rapid rise to fame earlier this year, the 27-year-old singer has never publicly stated her political views.

Langley has never confirmed her personal political beliefs, but in 2020 she wore a T-shirt that said her political affiliation was ‘country music’

In 2020, Langley was photographed wearing a T-shirt featuring three options: “Democrat,” “Republican” and “country music.”

Only “country music” was marked on the shirt.

She captioned the image: “Hey Ella, what is your political stance? Me: Casually looks down at my shirt.”

While Langley has kept her politics private, several other country performers have been far more outspoken.

The Chicks, fronted by singer Natalie Maines, appeared with fans holding signs bearing the words “f**k Trump” during a Los Angeles concert on Tuesday night.

“Hello, Los Angeles. Welcome to our bluenami night. I’m so glad we could share this night together,” Maines told the audience.

“Texas is blue, the Senate is blue, the House is blue. This would have been a very different night if that wasn’t the case.”

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle responded to the performance in a statement to The Daily Mail, saying: “Natalie Maines is a despicable nobody who clearly suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has completely rotted her peanut-sized brain.”
