It comes after Sydney defended her film Christy after it failed to receive any nominations for the 2026 Golden Globes.
She plays professional boxer Christy Martin in the biopic. Although her performance was praised by critics, the movie flopped at the box office.
Sydney has defended the film which charts Christy’s rise to becoming America’s best-known female boxer in the 1990s and her husband’s attempt to murder her.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Sydney shared Sports Illustrated’s December cover which features Sydney and Christy posing together.
In a passionate post, she wrote: ‘This is the most important film I’ve ever made.
‘For 20 years, Christy Martin was one of the strongest women in the world inside the ring. But at home, she was abused and nearly killed by the man who claimed to love her.
‘Her story isn’t just about boxing. It’s about identity, survival, and the unimaginable strength it takes to reclaim your life after someone has taken everything from you.
‘In the United States, about 20 people are physically abused by an intimate partner every single minute.

‘Thank you for watching. Thank you for sharing. I hope Christy stays with you long after the credits roll. It has for me.’
The film was made on a budget of $15million but has so far made only $2million, a significant loss.
Christy Martin has defended Sydney after she was widely blamed for the financial failure at the box office.
