Trump in ‘excellent health,’ doctor says after annual exam

President Trump is in “excellent health,” his physician wrote in a memo released by the White House on Sunday after Trump underwent an annual physical exam.

Trump underwent a heart exam, a neurological exam and a skin exam during his visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday.

“President Trump remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function,” White House physician Sean Barbabella wrote in a memo. ”His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being.”

Barbabella wrote that Trump’s daily activities include multiple meetings, public appearances and “frequent victories in golf events.”

“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” Barbabella wrote.

Trump is set to turn 79 in June. He will be 82 at the end of his term, which would make him the oldest individual to hold the office by just a few months over former President Biden when he left office in January.

The White House physician’s memo confirmed that Trump took the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a test commonly used to detect memory issues or cognitive impairment. Trump scored a 30 out of 30, the memo stated.

The president told reporters on Friday he took a cognitive test and bragged that he got every question correct.

Trump also completed a questionnaire for screening depression and anxiety. His responses were “within the normal range for both,” Barbabella wrote.

Barbabella wrote that Trump’s heart function is “normal.” The memo noted that Trump underwent a colonoscopy last July that revealed a benign polyp. Doctors recommended that Trump undergo a follow-up colonoscopy in 2027.

Friday’s skin exam found Trump has “some minor sun damage and a few benign lesions.”

Trump has scarring on his right ear from where he was grazed by a bullet in an assassination attempt last July, but his hearing is normal, according to the White House memo.

The president weighs 224 pounds and is 75 inches tall, according to the White House memo. His resulting body mass index would classify him as overweight.

Barbabella wrote that Trump is current on “all recommended vaccinations.” The president is taking two drugs for cholesterol, aspirin and mometasone as needed for his skin.

Trump had released limited information about his physical health since he left office in 2020.

His campaign released a letter from his personal physician in November 2023 that described the former president as having “excellent health,” but provided few specifics about his most recent exam.

Trump and his campaign also shared relatively little information about his recovery or any lingering health effects after he was grazed by an assassin’s bullet in July 2024. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), a former White House physician, said he examined the president’s wound on his ear at the time.
