Sir Rod Stewart is said to charge at least $1 million to perform at private events, but here’s one wedding at which he may sing free of charge: the star’s son Liam, 28, has got engaged to Nicole Artukovich, a project manager.

‘Forever,’ she tells friends as she shares this photograph of her showing off her sparkler.

Liam’s stepmother, Penny Lancaster, describes the news as ‘so magical’.

In May, Nicole gave birth to her first child with Liam, a professional ice hockey player in Washington State in the U.S. They called their son Louie, with Roderick one of his middle names. Liam was born in Britain but raised in California.

His mother is Kiwi model Rachel Hunter, Sir Rod’s second wife.

Sir Paul McCartney, 81, joked that he had ‘secretly been enjoying all the sympathy’ after he underwent heart tests for a ‘minor irregularity’ in 2008. Now, his younger brother, Mike McGear, needs a bit of TLC.

The former pop star, 79, has just undergone open heart surgery at Liverpool’s ‘magnificent’ Broadgreen Hospital. ‘I’ve now been ordered to recoup for three months … with lots of family support,’ he says.

McGear was the original drummer behind Macca and John Lennon, but, after breaking his arm, nerve damage forced him to abandon the sticks.

Later he reinvented himself with the stage name McGear and formed The Scaffold trio.

Their debut hit, Thank U Very Much, was re-released during the pandemic to raise funds for the NHS.

Dame Arlene Phillips has made the heartbreaking admission that she has performed her last waltz.

‘I don’t dance any more,’ the former Strictly judge, 80, tells me at the O2 Silver Clef awards with Nordoff & Robbins at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London. ‘My left knee is a mess — my body doesn’t work the way it used to, and it doesn’t do what it’s told instantly any more.’

The choreographer, who is known for her work on Grease and Starlight Express, says she relies on her team. ‘I have the most fantastic associates now,’ she adds.

Lord Botham welcomed a newcomer to Test cricket on Saturday — Steve Monti, former drummer with Ian Dury and The Blockheads.

Now 60, Monti, joined Beefy in a hospitality box at Lord’s, after paying thousands for the privilege at a charity auction — in aid of Wellbeing of Women. The game didn’t feature much on Canvey Island, where he grew up in Essex. ‘Cricket wasn’t too big on Canvey ‘cos it’s below sea level – marshland,’ he tells me.

But he developed a high regard for Ian Botham. ‘He had everything to make a great drummer,’ adds Monti.

‘Good rhythm, the strength to belt it out of the park. And a youthful fondness for weed.’
