Authorities have verified that a fire erupted on Friday at the Chalmette Refining site, located near New Orleans, Louisiana.
The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the fire, reporting that several roads have been closed off to allow emergency crews to manage the situation effectively.
“Motorists are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice,” the agency wrote in a Facebook post. “Please use caution and allow first responders space to safely perform their duties.”
Chalmette Refining did not immediately respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital.
