David McKeown, once a trusted sixth-grade teacher, found himself on the wrong side of the law when he was apprehended in June. The arrest came after allegations surfaced that McKeown had been utilizing the school’s Wi-Fi to exchange images depicting child sexual abuse.

In a case that has since rocked Volusia County, Florida, McKeown has now been handed a staggering 135-year prison sentence. This decision was announced by the Florida attorney general’s office on Wednesday, following charges related to child pornography and disturbing acts involving animals.

The initial arrest was made by the Holly Hill Police Department. Their investigation revealed that McKeown, while teaching at UBIC Academy, allegedly employed artificial intelligence to generate child sex abuse content. Disturbingly, some of these images featured real children, potentially including students from the very school where he taught.

Further investigations uncovered that McKeown had been sharing, downloading, and communicating this illicit material using Discord, an online social platform. Shockingly, these activities took place during school hours, utilizing the UBIC Academy’s internet. In addition to these charges, authorities reportedly found videos of McKeown engaging in sexual acts with a family pet, adding another layer of horror to the case.

At the sentencing, Circuit Judge A. Christian Miller not only labeled McKeown as a sex offender but also imposed a lifelong ban on animal ownership, ensuring that once his extensive prison term concludes, he will never again be in a position to harm animals.

“The abuse and trauma this predator inflicted is sick, and he deserves every moment of this sentence,” Attorney General James Uthmeier wrote in a statement. “We will always seek the longest sentence possible for anyone who harms innocent children or defenseless animals.”
