The Avengers are set to take on a new form, this time in the world of trading card games! The beloved franchise has teamed up with “Magic: The Gathering” to introduce a thrilling crossover that will delight fans of both universes. This collaboration brings Marvel’s iconic heroes into the card game, complete with fresh cards and artwork crafted by talented Marvel comic artists.
To mark this exciting launch, Wizards of the Coast, the creators of “Magic: The Gathering,” hosted a lively fan event. The celebration was filled with themed photo opportunities and gave fans a chance to experience hands-on gameplay featuring the new Marvel set.
Among the enthusiasts of this strategic card game is U.S. figure skater and Olympic gold medalist Amber Glenn. Glenn has long been a fan of “Magic: The Gathering,” finding it to be a peaceful escape amid the pressures of international competition.
Expressing her joy, Glenn shared with On The Red Carpet, “It’s been skating, skating, skating non-stop for a while, so having the chance to engage in something different is truly exciting. I’m thrilled that one of my cherished hobbies is getting this level of public attention and exploration.”
“It has been skating, skating, skating non-stop for a while so to get to do something outside of it, is really, really exciting and I’m so glad that one of my hobbies, something I really truly enjoy got to be so public and it got to be explored more,” she told On The Red Carpet.
Longtime player and collector Leonard Williams already knows who’s leading his lineup.
“I’m definitely looking forward to starting a deck with Thor,” he said.
For head designer Mark Rosewater, the collaboration was a dream come true.
“Our art department had a goal that we wanted a certain percentage of artists that actually did Marvel comics,” he said.
“So many artists were so excited, we blew past our goal, that they were very excited that they were able to make a “Magic” card. “Magic” is all about great art, Marvel is all about great art, so it was a perfect marriage.”
The new “Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Superheroes” set launches June 26.
