In Los Angeles, the grand conclusion of a legendary “Star Wars” animated series was marked with a spectacular celebration by Disney. The event, held in honor of the final two episodes of “Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord,” turned the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank into a vibrant gathering place for fans of the series.
The transformation of the studio lot into a showcase highlighted the series’ striking animation and gripping narratives. This special occasion brought together cast members and ardent fans who shared the excitement of witnessing the finale as a unified community.
Among those celebrating was Sam Witwer, the voice behind the character Maul for over ten years. Witwer spoke about the significant impact left by the franchise’s visionary creator, George Lucas, expressing how Lucas’s legacy has shaped the filmmaking world.
“George created an extraordinary filmmaking legacy,” Witwer mentioned in an interview with On The Red Carpet. He emphasized that Lucasfilm animation and Lucasfilm as a whole have evolved into a kind of film school under Lucas’s guidance, with many industry talents having started their journey under his mentorship.
“George created an extraordinary film making legacy and Lucasfilm animation and Lucasfilm as a whole has become kind of a film school under George, but all these people started under George, he told On The Red Carpet.
“Every department head worked under George. I guess I worked under George through Dave but also it’s kind of fun to see where this has all gone.
Newcomer Gideon Adlon, who plays Jedi apprentice Devon Izara, didn’t hold back her excitement about joining the galaxy far, far away.
“The team nailed it, the writers, the director, the artists, everybody, Dave, Sam are incredible and I just feel lucky that I got to be a part of something that’s making fans finally like jump for joy and like a connection they’ve been missing in the Star Wars world,” she said.
Lucasfilm president Dave Filoni was also in attendance and was happy to be surrounded by fans.
“It’s always the best when you get a whole group of fans together to watch something like this, there’s great energy,” he said.
“I think it’s great for the team who made the series, all the talent involved.”
