() Bodycam footage shows first responders racing against time to rescue a trapped firefighter in the moments following a home explosion in Christopher, Illinois.
The video, posted by the Christopher Police Department, captures the moment the upper level of a house explodes, toppling parts of the structure and engulfing it in flames.
Several people on the scene immediately startle into action, sprinting toward the flames to rescue the fellow first responder caught under the rubble.
“Get him out! Get him out!” someone can be heard yelling. The team then worked to lift a piece of roofing off the trapped firefighter.
The firefighter was minorly injured, according to police.
“We are thankful for all of our firefighters and first responders! They have a very dangerous job, and today highlighted the dangers they face all too often,” the police department said in a Facebook post about the recovery.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Christopher firefighter for a fast and speedy recovery, and also with the family that lost their home during this tragedy,” police added.
