A little over a month after infamous Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann received the maximum sentence for the brutal murders of eight women spanning from 1993 to 2010, his home in Massapequa Park became the scene of a chilling incident involving two masked individuals, according to recent reports.
On Tuesday, two figures clad in black masks, along with matching T-shirts and shorts, were caught in the act, sprinting away from the porch of Heuermann’s dwelling in New York. This unsettling event was confirmed by both police and the family’s attorney, who spoke to Newsday.
Robert Macedonio, the attorney representing Heuermann’s family, disclosed to the outlet that at the time of the incident, Heuermann’s ex-wife, Asa Ellerup, along with their children, Victoria and Christopher, were inside the house, taken by surprise as the masked individuals disturbed their peace.

In the video evidence, the two masked intruders are observed fleeing the scene from Heuermann’s porch, with their hasty retreat aggravated by the barking of the family’s dog.
Macedonio said a police report was filed and Ellerup believes it was an attempted break-in.
While a Nassau police spokesman confirmed the incident took place at around 8 p.m. Tuesday, he said it didn’t meet the criteria for an attempted break-in since no one tried to enter the home.
Macedonio said the family is harassed constantly.

“This is the constant harassment that she faces on a daily basis, with people driving by, saying stuff as they walk by,” Macedonio said of Ellerup. “They leave stuff on the door or throw stuff. They make comments when they drive by; pointing, taking pictures on a regular basis.”

Heuermann was sentenced in June to three consecutive life sentences without parole, followed by four consecutive sentences of 25 years to life, after admitting to murdering eight women.
At the hearing, Heuermann spoke before he was sentenced.
“I’m responsible,” he said. “The words I would say have no meaning.”
