Mayor Eric Adams gets Hamptons fundraiser

Mayor Eric Adams is set to be honored at a high-profile fundraiser in the Hamptons this Saturday, as he gains momentum in the wake of former Governor Andrew Cuomo’s unexpected loss in the NYC Democratic Mayoral Primary, as reported by Page Six.

The fundraiser for Adams’ reelection campaign will be hosted by Maria and Kenneth Fishel at their Bridgehampton estate, with other notable attendees including John and Margo Catsimatidis, Jared and Mindy Epstein, and Todd and Liz Shapiro, according to an invitation reviewed by Page Six.

Following Cuomo’s defeat to socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani, money has reportedly been pouring into Adams’ campaign. Despite calls for Cuomo to withdraw from the race and remove himself from the general election ballot, he has chosen to remain in the running, as detailed by The Post.

“With Cuomo out, people are coming to Adams with oodles of cash,” said an Adams backer, who added that the Hamptons event is just one being lined up for the mayor out east.

Quipped the Adams backer of Mamdani, “People are afraid of this guy, and they don’t want Times Square to become Red Square.”

The source contended: “Since Cuomo lost, people worry what he’s really doing or not. People are bailing out left and right — unions are bailing out and running away.” He said that donors are, “calling [the Adams campaign] every day, wanting to give him money.

An opinion piece in the Post called Adams “once again the most important man in New York City” afte Cuomo fizzled. And President Trump praised Adams’ re-election campaign on Tuesday.

“I helped him out a little bit,” Trump said of Adams, alluding to the Department of Justice’s controversial move to dismiss Adams’ federal corruption case. “He had a problem, and he was unfairly hurt over this question. That was a Biden indictment. I said, ‘Don’t feel bad. I got indicted five times.’”

Adams faced corruption and bribery charges, which he and Trump both argued was political retribution for speaking out against former President Biden’s border policies.

Meanwhile, Page Six reported after the primary that Cuomo headed on a weekend getaway with an unnamed gal pal after he lost. A source also told us he was at a gathering in the Hamptons over the weekend hosted by Washington, DC, bigwig Patricia Duff.

A rep for Cuomo did not comment.

Adams told us when we reached out for comment: “Since Andrew Cuomo lost the primary and chose not to actively campaign, there’s been a noticeable shift in energy — particularly from New Yorkers.  The energy is coming all over, from Brownsville to the Hamptons, on in all five boroughs. People are deeply concerned. They see what’s coming if a radical takes over City Hall: massive tax hikes, a defunded police department, and policies that will tank property values and push families and businesses out of New York.”

He added: “I’m hearing from longtime Democrats, independents, and Republicans alike — people who are crossing party lines because they understand what’s at stake. They’re worried about public safety, about their neighborhoods, about their kids’ future. They’re afraid that Zorhan agenda will undo decades of progress and stability in this city.”

He also said of his fundraising: “We are raising significant funds from donors who care about keeping New York safe, strong, and economically sound. This race is not about left or right — it’s about common sense versus chaos. I will always stand with the working families, the police officers, the small business owners, and everyone who still believes New York’s best days are ahead… This is a time for experience not an experiment.”

The Fishels, who split their time between NYC, the Hamptons and Palm Beach, also host Hamptons Polo at their estate, and have hosted events there as well for the Center for Family Services Palm Beach County’s famed high society “Old Bags Luncheon.”
