HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — A staff member at Hoover High School was apprehended on-site Thursday, facing accusations of distributing explicit images involving minors.
Darrell Wade Alldredge, aged 51 from Odenville, was taken into custody at Hoover High School by Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officers at 9:11 a.m. on Thursday. ALEA representative Amanda Wasden stated that the arrest was a result of a comprehensive investigation conducted by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program.
Legal filings reveal that Alldredge is accused of two counts of distributing obscene content. The charges specify that the illicit images involve two girls, one under 16 and another aged 3 or younger. Allegedly, these images were circulated on August 2 and October 15 of the previous year.
Though Alldredge was not an educator, his specific role at Hoover High School and the duration of his employment there remain undisclosed.
Merrick Wilson, spokesperson for Hoover High School, released the following statement Friday evening:
“Hoover City Schools was notified of allegations involving an employee. The employee has been placed on administrative leave. The district is cooperating with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency as it conducts its investigation. Because this is an active investigation being handled by ALEA, all additional questions should be directed to them.”
Alldredge was subsequently taken to the Jefferson County Jail, being released shortly after posting a combined $60,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation.
