In a heart-wrenching plea for justice, a family in Houston is grappling with the tragic loss of their teenage daughter, who was fatally shot at a party. The incident unfolded in the early hours of Valentine’s Day, casting a shadow over what should have been a day of celebration and love.

Mariah Alatorre, just 17 years old, became an unintended victim of violence during a gathering on Dagg Road, situated on Houston’s South Side. Reports from Fox 26 Houston reveal that the teenager was attending the event with friends when chaos erupted.

According to local authorities, gunfire broke out, and Mariah was tragically caught in the crossfire. The sudden eruption of violence left her critically injured and needing urgent medical attention.

Further details, as reported by ABC 13, indicate that Mariah was swiftly transported to a hospital emergency room. Despite the efforts to save her life, she was later moved to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The police department did not provide Fox News Digital with any other information, only stating that they would hold a news conference later in the day.

No suspect is in custody at this time.

“She believed that everybody was her friend,” Yady Alatorre, the mother of the victim, told Fox 26.

“I would tell her, like, some people are not your friends. And she was just like, no, you just don’t know them. They’re my friends. And I wish she just understood that, you know, a mom knows best,” the elder Alatorre added.
